August 8-14, 2018

Daylight is still fading until after midnight and the waters of Prince William Sound lap close to the tents spread out across the beach. Your Alaskan adventure awaits! Sea kayaking in the protected waters out from Whittier, Alaska, we will explore not only the wildness of the region, keeping on the lookout for wildlife as diverse as eagles, porpoise, bear, sea lions, salmon, and humpback whales, but also our internal responses to such a unique land and seascape. This is an opportunity to unplug and tune in, to learn basic camping and seakayak skills, as well as a deeper understanding of who you are when your daily distractions aren't around.

Day 1 Fly into Anchorage and meet your group at the hotel.

Day 2 A day of transit... we first drive to Whittier and then hop on a jet boat to take us out into the Sound. Today you will learn some basics of packing a kayak, paddling strokes, and perhaps enjoy a treat of local Salmon Berries, harvested at the camp site.

Day 3-5 Mornings begin with optional mindfulness meditation and a chance to enjoy the quiet of the remote region, followed by a hearty breakfast to prepare us for our explorations. We will then paddle and have opportunities to visit glaciers, hike to views of the Sound, take icy plunges into the ocean, visit with wildlife, and also listen to our internal

Day 6 We will get picked up by the jet boat again and return to Whittier, where we will have a chance to taste some of the local catch before we drive back to Anchorage in order to freshen up and head out for a celebratory dinner.
