How do you experience interdependence?

My breath, my body, a personal experience of the global, the shared. The rivers run through my veins, the waves roll in and out of my lungs. I am one individual wave in the ocean of Beings. And when my wave rolls under, it will dissipate into tiny water particles that move into new formations. Is this reincarnation? Is this the way we get to keep going? Our very cells decomposing so that atoms reduce to their most basic states and reconfigure new life.

I could write about the interconnection of trees… there are all of these facts to go finding. But what does my body say? It wants rain on its skin, it wants to feel the earth beneath it. I believe there was a time when my ancestors lived in such a way when we too were craved by the Earth. I believe we still are, but not in our heels and suits, She wants us naked and shining. She wants our tears and our hearts, and she wants us ALL. She wants us in all of our shades of skin. Imagine… imagine a beach full of naked bodies from across lines of socio-economic, racial, gender, faith, able identity, walking into the water, for immersion… together. A communal baptism.

As difficult as the growing pains are, as much as we don’t know where we are headed, are we not waking up more and more as a society? Are the privileged not seeing their privilege more? Are the oppressed not more able to speak with unity, aloud, against the oppressors? Is this the beginning of the great turning? A time when we will finally level-up in our collective consciousness? Because we are that much more connected, we are that much more able to understand that my story and your story of society are different, and now we get to write a new one together.
